Oct. 17, 2010
If you live in the Lawrence area and have never visited any of the artists who participate in Lawrence Art Walk, mark next weekend, Oct. 23-24 on your calendar and plan to go visiting between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12-6 p.m. on Sunday. There is no pressure to buy anything, although of course we artists hope you will see some of our creations you just can’t live without.
Twenty artists’ studios and art spaces will be open to the public. But many more than 20 artists are represented, since three art spaces will feature groups: The Downtown Tuesday Painters at the library and the Senior Center, The Kaw Valley Fiber Guild at Watkins Museum, and the Lawrence Photo Alliance at the Lawrence Art Center. There will be a map in the Journal-World and maps at the various artists’ locations showing who and where the artists are located.
Stop first at my house, 2903 Schwarz Rd. (behind the Dillons at 6th and Lawrence Ave.). There will be a sign in the yard of each Art Walk participant. Since I wasn’t able to be in Art Walk last year because I was out of town, I have quite a few new paintings you probably haven’t seen. I’ve been busy framing and hanging paintings and think I have a display you’ll enjoy seeing. So let’s get together and talk about art.
